Stampin' Up! Convention Brisbane 2013

Hi everyone, as most of you would know, I have just attended the Brisbane Stampin' Up Convention for this year and I had an absolute ball of a time.  My convention started off with a wonderful surprise at Leadership on the Wednesday afternoon.  I was greeted with two Award Pins for my recruiting and Leadership efforts through the past year.

Then in the evening we had a wonderful Managers' Reception sit down dinner with a few of my fellow Demonstrator Friends.  My upline Kim set us a challenge to see how many signatures we could get from Aaron (Australian Stampin' Up Manager).  I went one better (well actually 3) and got Rich's, Dave's and then Shelli's.  It was a bit of Convention Fun and we all had a laugh when I told them it was for a dare.....

Here are a couple of my team friends, Deb and Karen waiting for the General Session to start

and my Mum, Sue, Stella, Leanne and Erica down the line

We also had a team photo taken with Shelli - "Shades of White".  It was quite special for my team as it was the first convention for all of them and my whole team was there.  Shelli loved our team badges.

We have (left to right) Jackie, Karen, Me, Shelli, Leanne, Lorraine (my mum) Erica, Debbie, Sue and in the front row is Daphne and Stella

Team Badge designed by the girls late one night after a class.  Amazing what you can do in the wee hours isn't it.

Mum and I waiting for another General Session.

Shelli's samples.  I just love her style and the things she comes up with.

These  were beautiful samples made by a fellow Demonstrator using DSP and Washi Tape.  She was amazing.  Unfortunately I can't remember her name but her work is amazing.

I also had a photo taken with one of my favourite ladies from the US office, Shannon West.  She is such a beautiful woman and her samples were fantastic.  I also got to swap with her which is always a thrill.

And here is the swap I made this year.  I wanted to make something with the Blackboard Technique and I had not seen too many male cards using this so I came up with something a bit blingy but still masculine I think.

I have so many more photos but I won't bore you with the details.....

So much happening at the moment both in my life and in Stampin' Up!  I'll be back soon with some fantastic promotions that are running at the moment.

NEW LOOK BLOG WITH MDS

Haven't  I been having the most wonderful rainy day playing with My Digital Studio - the new digital scrapbooking program from Stampin' Up!   When it first came out here in Australia a few weeks ago I was excited but little did I know at the time I could design my own blog header and refresh my look to reflect my own style.

All the elements used in my header are from the Stamp Set Creative Elements.  It's so easy to play around with all the elements, add stamps, change colours, add text, drop shadows and add your own touches here and there.  And you can chose Stampin' Up!'s fantastic colour palette to help you achieve your designs.

This program is fantastic and I have only got the $24.95 version without any additional downloads.  Wait till I get my hands on them.  You can go to my website at www.tinawhite.stampinup.net and purchase the program online.  It's so simple.

Here are a few other creations I've been up to.

I hope you like my new look.  Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.  My next job is to design my Signature :)

Stippled Blossoms Birthday Card for my Mum

Today is my mum's birthday and last night I realised that I had not made her a card yet.  Her Birthday present was going on a cardmaking retreat last weekend and to be honest it had slipped my mind that her birthday was this weekend (I know, how awful to forget your own mum's birthday).  So last night at some silly hour I put my mind to making a card using my current favourite set called Stippled Blossoms from Stampin' Up!   I also decided to christen my new oval framelits and use one of the gorgeous Tea Time Trinkets (the coffee cup).  Can you see it hanging from the Build-a-Brad.  My new favourite embellishment.

Here's a close up of the business going on in the corner.  I have lace gathered behind the build-a-brad that has a lovely large pearl stuck in the middle and hanging from it is the cute little cup which can be unhooked and put somewhere special for later.

The only colours used here are Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry.  This set is a two step stamping set so I "stamped off" the bottom layer of the flowers and then used full strength ink for the top later of the flowers.  It's a great way to get more colours without having to buy more ink pads.

I finished the flowers off by adding a few of those teeny tiny pearls I have heaps of because I never knew what to do with them being so small.  I think they look pretty clumped together.

Mum loved her card and I hope you do to.

VALENTINE'S DAY 2013 - Hearts a Flutter

Its been a while since I posted - like 10 minutes ago.   I thought I would get these up on my blog before I forgot to.  These are two cards we made on Friday night ready for Valentine's Day.  Most of the ladies turned them into birthday cards which was a great idea.  I'm keeping the second one for my hubby though I think he's seen it already.

I've used lots of new products from the new Seasonal Catalogue.  It's jammed packed with lovely little embellishments as you can see.  Bottle Tops, More Amore DSP, Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Builder Brads, an Artisian Embellishment Kit, Paper Lace Doilies and Flower Trim.

Lots of layering for this card, little bits of lace, doilies, flower trim and builder brads.  The sentiment is from a new Stamp Set called That's the ticket which goes great with the matching Punch.  This card I have used new Pool Party Cordinations cardstock for a background embossed and sanded to reveal a lighter colour - it's gorgeous.

I hope you have gotten some great ideas from these cards to use for yourself.

CHALKBOARD TECHNIQUE

Also called Blackboard Technique.  It's the biggest craze at the moment.  Everywhere you look cardmakers are having a go so I thought I would as well.

It's quite simple.  All you need is black cardstock, white embossing powder, a white coloured pencil for drawing in lines and colouring and your Whisper White Craft Ink Pad.

These are the cards we made at one of my recent classes.

Step 1
Stamp your image with Versamark on Black Cardstock and heat emboss white embossing powder over the image.

Step 2
Using a damp sponge rub a small amount of Whisper White Craft ink backwards and forwards over the image till you achieve a "dirty" blackboard effect.  When it dries it looks fantastic.

Step 3
Using a white coloured pencil, outline the edges of the "board" or colour in sections of your embossed image.

For this next card I used sentiments from a couple of sets - Create a Cupcake and Bring on the Cake.  I have these in clear mount which makes life a whole lot easier when you are doing this technique.  I mounted them all at once on my F Block so I only had to stamp the image once.  If you have them wood mounted you would need to stamp each sentiment and then emboss them one at a time.

This one was a little different.  I stamped the flower image in Whisper White and heat set it with my heat gun.  Once dry I coloured the image in with coloured pencils.  I also used a red pencil to give a shadow to the first letters of each word and I used a Pool Party coloured pencil to do the outline around the edge.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  Give it a go, it's a lot of fun and a little bit different.

Belated Christmas Projects

As you can probably tell from my lack of blog posts recently, I have been very busy with life in general and it only occurred to me recently that I have hardly posted anything of my Christmas work here for you to see.  So basically I am going to just upload the photos and let you browse through with a few comments here and there.

Firstly a very good friend of mine commissioned me to make her four Christmas cards for her to send to   overseas friends and family.  She wanted them to be "Australian" and "Fancy".  I came up with these.  Made using the retired Stamp Set, "Bloom Away",  I watercoloured them and made them into Easel Cards.  I knew there was a reason I never got rid of that stamp set.  A little hard to see but I put a touch of glitter on the tips of the blossoms and Shimmer Paint here and there to make them feel a bit Christmassy.  She absolutely LOVED them and was loath to post them off.

This is one of my stamp-a-stack Cards

 And another.

I have been meaning to make an Advent Calendar for the Boys for a few years now and finally got to it this time round.  The Cherry Cobbler Petal Cones were little table treats for my regular ladies who come to my classes.  They were thrilled to see them on the table when they arrived for their last class.

A Christmas Tag

The "Christmas Decoration" from the front page of the Holiday Catalogue.  I used it on top of the Teachers' Present as a Decoration Bow which then doubles as a Decoration to hand at home.

Gift Bag and Tag for my cousin's little girl.  Came up a Treat.

My Mum always makes a Christmas Cake for her good friends at Christmas time.  She always decorates them nicely and this was her effort for Christmas 2012.

I made these little Snowflake tags to decorate a few other presents.  So easy with the Snow Flake Die and our Glitter Paper.  The delicate Doily in the background finishes it off nicely I think.

And finally, two more cards from my stamp-a-stacks.

Sorry I was so slow in posting these projects.  I'd like to think I could get my next lot of creations out a bit quicker next time.   Sale-a-bration and the new upcoming Seasonal Catalogue to create from.

See you soon.

Queensland's Heartfelt Stampin' Up! Event

Hi everyone, well where have I been for the past few months.  Not far but totally busy with life and the kids and the hubby and you name it.  I'm so sorry for all my followers that I've taken so long to post.

On the weekend it was our turn for Queensland to have it's Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Event and wasn't it a  wonderful day jammed pack with displays, information, demonstrations and Products to see and play with.

This year I was on Product Playground helping with the Stamping Table.  I made a couple of things for the display boards one being a Christmas Wall hanging using the framelits and the gorgeous Stamp Set called Watercolour Winter.  I just love this set.   You may recognise that this is similar to one I made last year.

We also had to make something using the hostess set called "Christmas Wishes".   This is not a set I would normally choose to buy but I gave it a go and came up with these for the display.   Two little gift cards which have lots of paper piecing, multiple stamped images in different colours that I have cut out and pieced together to get a colourful image.

Here is my Santa Place Card for the Christmas Table.  My eldest son saw this and said is that what we are having for Christmas this year?   I guess now I'll have to make one for everyone at the table so as not to disappoint him.

Here is a card I made called an "Easel".   So simple to make yet very effective for a "Special Card" for a special person.  Again using Winter Watercolour along with the Holiday Ornaments and the wonderful new Coredinations Cardstock.

Here's a peek at the inside.

And lastly a "Joy Fold Card" to finish off the display.   I used the Winter Watercolour poinsettia image to make these flowers.  Stamping them three times and cutting out layers omitting the background leaves each time and then joining them together with a Vintage Brad.

I had such a wonderful time at the Heartfelt Event and look forward to convention now next year which is going to be held in the same place, Brisbane.

I promise I won't keep it this long between posts again.

Happy Christmas Stamping everyone.
